The project is for a non-profit private
school facility of approximately 16,000 SF with a capacity of 350
students. Toddler, primary and elementary age groups are included. The
design is an open plan concept with structural and utility elements
exposed, which become part of the educational process.
|
The classroom spaces are arranged along a central axial core containing
toilet rooms, utility spaces, and storage with lofts above. Administrative
offices are housed in one module of the rectangular building that
was extremely economical to build. Energy efficiency is provided through
numerous skylights, auto-dimmed compact fluorescent lighting and natural
ventilation. The complex includes play areas, parking, gardens, outdoor
shade structures and a carefully maintained existing grapefruit grove. |
