This administrative, research and development campus
includes data processing, computer programming and digitizing, software
development for use in Geographic Information Systems and training
facilities in computer mapping technology. Our relationship has
involved renovation of relocated existing buildings, additions,
remodeling and new construction over a period of years since 1974
comprising a total area in excess of 300,000 SF in single-story,
two and three story, wood frame and steel frame formats. These projects
have involved a collaborative relationship between the Owner-Builder
and Armantrout Architects for the past 27 years.
ESRI expanded their complex in 1996 with a three story 73,000 SF
office building
(Building 'M') to be used as a Research and Development facility.
Armantrout Architects worked on this project in collaboration with
JPC, Inc. of Redmond, Washington (who do much of Microsoft's work)
on the space planning which includes Applications, Research and
Development, Technical Support departments, all engaged in Computerized
Geographic Information Systems.
The computerized techniques employed here and at JPC have facilitated
the rapid exchange of design and drawing information and accurate
and speedy exchange of the developed information among all of the
engineers involved as well. The building was designed for maximum
energy efficiency and employee productivity. The $9,000,000 project
is located on a newly acquired fifteen-acre site at the west end
of ESRI's current campus.
Building 'O', a similar building both in size and program, is currently
under construction to the immediate west of Building M.
It is scheduled for completion in May 2001.
